Artistic Statement
I consider myself to be a communicator, a consideration borne out by both audience reaction and critical comment. Foremost in my work is the transmission of ideas and sensitivities through movement; choreography. My works as of late are a collection of stories, of sensual knowing, and of issues both personal and global.
Although I do not hesitate to approach serious, and sometimes dark themes, I describe myself as “an optimistic realist”. That very optimism invites audiences to learn and feel enlightened rather than burdened. I seek honesty in movement and all aspects of life and consequently see myself as a spokesperson for “the common person.” There is no proselytizing or coercion, only the honest and uplifting communication of ideas. Because my ideas and my works are gathered from years of observation of human nature and events, and because experimentation with human movement is informative, performances by Kista Tucker Insights are described as being balanced, powerful, and insightful.
